Army public school in India : introduction – Army public school is a system of chain based established schools for providing affordable education to the wards of Indian armed forces personnel (officers, JCO’s, soldiers etc). It is chain base schooling system spread all over India. It is controlled by the AWES. Army welfare education system (AWES) was established in 1983.
Why Army public school started in India
Private schools were becoming an affordable for soldiers and also quality of education was not given, there was surety for the quality education and guarantee of admission was not provided for the wards of soldiers/Officers who were frequently transferred one station to another station.
So education of Defense personnel children was realised as an important welfare activity. So it was considered, there should be a system when Wards of Defense personnel get quality of education along with the assurance of getting admission when they were being transferred from one station to another station. So, 15 Jan 1980 , on the occasion of Army Day, it was announced to establish the chain of schools in various stations.
Nomenclature of Army public school in India
initially it was named as Army High schools and later renamed as Army schools. All Army schools work again designated as the Army public schools on 1st July 2011.
Educational system in Army Public School
The schools are controlled by the Army welfare Education Society and generally managed by the regional commands. CBSE pattern is followed in all Army public schools.
Admission is granted to the wards of Defense personnel (Army) , ex serviceman on a priority basis. All Army public schools have a chairman who is an army officer rank of Brigadier.
Army pre primary schools :
As school and colleges education system growing rapidly at the same time pre schooling education is also taking fast strides.
In 2005 under the army wives welfare association, pre-school Education Council was set up for the early childhood care and education and these schools were designated as Army Pre Primary schools.

Admission process in Army Public School
APS(Army Public School) is primarily meant to cater to the learning aspirations of the students and parents across India who want that their children should grab the best opportunity of education from Army Public School. Here we are providing simple procedure of Army Public School admissions for the coming academic session.
For admission, students can download the form by visiting the official website of the school. Admission to APS ( army public school) will be done after qualifying the entrance test. After clearing the entrance exam only qualified students list will be displayed on the school website or school notice board.
Fresh admissions are carried out on the basis of admission test.
Before filling the admission form you should have some basic documents like – progress report and transfer certificate of the past school you should have original date of birth certificate.
Age of the student who is appearing in class first should be more than 5 years and less than 7 years and for other classes, it will be regulated accordingly.
